When Irish Guys are Blogging...

All right, all right, I give up. After several years of refusing to use the word "blog", I guess I have to cave and admit that my silent protest changed nothing. Everybody's got one, everyone calls it a blog. Fine. Let's blog. Blog away. Blog like the wind. Blog like there's no one watching.

So, you have arrived at the (ugh) blog that belongs to my site, michaeloconnell.com. In case the site name didn't give it away (too subtle?), I'm Michael O'Connell. I'm a California guy, an insurance claims slave, a trying-to-be writer, and a generally affable lad. I set up a web site to share my thoughts, my likes and my life with the world. Hey, everybody's doing it. That site, as of this time, is kind of a mix of the up-to-date and out-of-date. I created the site when I was still living in San Diego, and since moving back to Sacramento, have little by little been changing things over. So if some things don't quite match up, I'm working on it. But feel free to check out and browse around.

And since it seems everyone has a blog, I thought my site could use one. And here it is. Not too sure what I'll do with it, but knowing myself, whatever it is will not be concise. They say to be a writer you need to be writing all the time, no matter what it is. So this will likely be the place I'll come to when whatever project I'm working on just isn't working at that moment but I need to keep the fingers moving. Maybe movie reviews. Maybe rants. Probably not politics. Way too many (and too frightening) political blogs out there, so I think I'll focus my sights elsewhere.

I mentioned writing, so this seems an appropriate place for a quick plug. One of the things I write is a webcomic called "The Nice Guy", which is drawn and co-created by artist (and resident best friend since the 5th grade) Tim Watts. Feel free to check that out. Aside from the strips, there's also a "Rant Shack" section in there with other writings, and a photo gallery with lots of shots of our autograph appearances and convention stops and such. Hope you enjoy.
