Attack of the Fonts
YES! SCORE!
If you're not a comic publishing kind of fella (or gal) or a web designer, this wouldn't mean much to you. But in my biz (such as it is), professional fonts are important. And most of them aren't cheap. All the best ones in the comic biz are done and sold by the folks at Comicraft.
Well, every New Year's Day, those same folks have a ridiculous sale. I always forget about it until, like, the day before. Same this year. I got the reminder email from them. It let me know that every font on their site--every single one--was selling for $20.08. Of course this happens right after Christmas, when I have no money and can't afford it. But how could I afford NOT to? In the end, I got $900.00 worth of fonts for $100.00!! Woo hoo! One of those fonts was a major industry comic lettering font that sells 364 days a year for $395.00. But on New Year's Day? Twenty bucks and change, baby!
I finally know what women feel like at the mall the day after Christmas...

You got Comicrazy too, Mike? So did I! I have Astro City, Up Up and Away, Dutch Courage, Comicrazy, and Wild and Crazy. What do you have?

Hey, guys.
Thanks to Mike and his alert, I managed to snag 5 fonts for 80 bucks (they had a further price reduction if you got a balloon font!)
I ended up getting Comiccrazy, Wild and Crazy, Wildwords, Smash, and Biffbamboom.
Not bad - I'm gonna have to remember this deal!

I don't do enough with captions and lettering to make this worthwhile for me. I'd love to see what you guys put them to use for.

Let's see, I got Comicrazy (like any of us would pass THAT deal up...), Aztech, Meanwhile, Wiccan, MildMannered, and Dutch Courage. Six of them for $96.38 with the discount. Didn't realize when I spent that cash that I'd have to buy a whole new fridge full of food a few days later, but still worth it. They'll get some good use. Mark your calendars. That's every New Year's Day!

Funny thing is, after you said that, I thought I had a new business opportunity. But I just looked it up, and damned if someone doesn't already own www.fontwhore.com. That could have been an awesome site.
